Tips for Training Your Dog to Use a Ramp
Dogs aren't always naturally inclined to use a ramp, especially if they are used to jumping.
- Start Flat: Lay the ramp flat on the ground first and let your dog walk across it to get used to the texture.
- Use High-Value Treats: Lure them across the flat ramp with their favorite treats and plenty of praise.
- Add Incline Gradually: Once they are comfortable, introduce a small incline (like up to a low couch) before moving to higher surfaces like a bed or an SUV.
- Be Patient: Never force, push, or drag your dog onto the ramp. Keep training sessions short and positive.
